I dreamt that I was awakening from the depths of winter. Like a bulb in spring, I began to emerge, my damp entangled hair pushing up through thawed soil. A trio of blackbirds suddenly arrived, each plucking a strand of my hair in her feet. They began to preen my tangled locks, smoothing the strands with their toes and beaks. Then, the blackbirds began to dance. Weaving in and out while still holding a strand, they formed a braid like a trellis to the sky. I knew it wouldn't be easy to rise, so I rooted myself and began to climb.
