This Week's Roses
Since the new year began, I have been keeping a vase in my home filled with fresh roses. Because roses are poetry— uplifting medicine for the heart and soul. Because they are nourishing reminders to embrace our softness and strength. Because they are vibrant invitations to cultivate healthy boundaries (something I aim for this year). Because even in the barren winter, I can stop and smell the roses daily. Because roses hold the sweetest memories of love and childhood and my dear sweet Gram. Because bringing roses into the house feels like devotion to beauty, connection and joy.
Though I don’t know how long I will keep this up this ritual, I am appreciating the weekly gift of color and life gently unfolding. It is a like a small celebration amidst the grey and cold, a bright hint of what’s to come, a fragrant spot of hope.
