Anatomy of Courage
Over the past few years, I have written about sunflowers and how they have become my symbol for courage. They symbolize the kind of courage that is rooted in the rich layers of experience, sprouting from the seeds of resilience and rising up with flexible strength. Courage that is cultivated from the vulnerability of an open heart and willingness to be seen, imperfectly perfect. Courage that blooms into a spacious source of light, for ourselves and others. The kind of courage that liberates us from old stories about our lives, releasing the seeds of the past back into the earth to become a stronger, brighter and more rooted version of ourselves. Sunflower Courage embodies that spiral of growth…the life sustaining force from which we can rise up, rooted and strong.
