A year ago, we planted this Okushimo Japanese Maple in honor of Arbor Day. A symbol of great blessings and peaceful retreat, she has certainly offered an abundance of both. Rooted in ancient wisdom, her shade is a daily messenger of balance and calm. Her generosity extends through seasonal gifts and prayers emerge from tiny crimson wings. She is a witness to life moving in and out of her branches— a sacred host to creatures great and small. She is a watchful guardian of our Mina cat's resting place, a holy refuge for any passing soul. When the light flows through her, I pause with reverent attention. When her leaves stir, I listen.
